In Korean, tae means "to strike or break with foot"; kwon means "to strike or break with fist"; and do means "way", "method", or "path". Thus, taekwondo may be loosely translated as "the way of the foot and the hand." Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, that teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind.

How should I start practicing Taekwondo?

Our website is a great resource to start exposing yourself to Taekwondo but going to your local Taekwondo School is where you should start training properly. Please note that the website serves as a reference guide for practitioners with experience. Please go see a certified Master Instructor for training.

Can anyone practice Taekwondo?

Yes, anyone can practice Taekwondo. Taekwondo as a martial art is popular with people of both genders and of many ages.

How do I get good at Taekwondo?

To be good at Taekwondo takes years of practicing the skills and techniques repeatedly and regularly to improve one's proficiency. Asking advice from senior belts can help improve your techniques and correct your mistakes. I also believe that you have to enjoy and love the sport to be able to reach a new level. How long till I get a black belt?

It varies between schools. Typically it takes 2-5 years. Please note receiving a black belt doesn't mean you've mastered the martial arts, its only the beginning and that's when the true training begins!

How to choose a good Taekwondo school?

Usually there is a free class that you can participate and tryout if you ask the Master Instructor. If not, you can watch from the side and observe the training and see how the students practice.

How much does it cost to start Taekwondo?

It varies between schools. Some of the costs expected when starting include monthly fees and the uniform. Later you may need to purchase sparring gear to participate in advanced training.

No that is not something in the works. I don't have any plans to create Kung Fu Preschool.

Why was Taekwondo Preschool created?

Taekwondo Preschool was created to help children and adults across the world. There are a lot of people who don't have access to this information. This website was made from various projects combined while I was completing the Web Design/Development, Design Arts, and Mobile Applications program. I decided it would be great to continue working on it to share with other like minded people who enjoy practicing and learning more indepth about Taekwondo. The preschool is so far completion meter at 10%.
